What actually changed

TRON's fees are governed by on-chain parameters that Super Representatives vote on. In December 2025 a governance vote lowered getEnergyFee — the TRX price burned per unit of energy — from 210 sun to 100 sun (1 TRX = 1,000,000 sun). The move was part of a broader push to keep TRON the cheapest major rail for stablecoin transfers as competing chains cut their own fees.

Note what did not change: a standard USDT (TRC20) transfer still consumes ~64,285 energy, and a transfer to an address that has never held USDT still consumes ~130,285. Only the TRX price of each energy unit fell.
